Books etc: April 2025

Ever dreamed of packing up and moving to rural France? Me too. Most often when I’m struck by spreadsheet fatigue, or realise that you really never do finish email.

For my April column in Decanter, I dove into a handful of new, and not-so-new, books that allow the reader to escape to such a life (and one English offering that’s more of a how-to/how-not-to). Candace Máté gave me her husband’s books when I visited their winery a couple of years ago – I’m genuinely sorry it took me so long to read one of them.
